Precision tank testing
Precision tank testing determines whether a tank is tight — that it holds product without leaking. It is used to meet release detection requirements, to confirm a suspected leak, and to verify a tank after repairs.

02 · Tank & Line Testing
A leak in a tank or product line is the most expensive problem a fuel facility can have, and it is often invisible until it isn't. Petro Compliance Services tests underground storage tanks and piping for tightness and containment integrity, and documents every result for FDEP. Our testing is performed under Registered Precision Tank Tester credentials, the licensing Florida requires for this work.

Precision tank testing determines whether a tank is tight — that it holds product without leaking. It is used to meet release detection requirements, to confirm a suspected leak, and to verify a tank after repairs.
Product lines run underground between the tank and the dispensers, where a leak can go unnoticed for a long time. Line tightness testing confirms the piping is holding product and not leaking.
Line leak detectors are designed to catch a large leak in pressurized piping and restrict or stop flow. We performance-test both mechanical and electronic line leak detectors to confirm they still trip as designed.
Double-walled tanks depend on the space between the walls to contain a leak from the inner tank. We test tank secondary containment integrity using dry test methods.
Double-walled piping needs the same check. We test piping secondary containment integrity to confirm the outer wall will hold product if the inner pipe fails.
Vacuum tests verify the integrity of single-walled and double-walled tank systems and are often used where a liquid test isn't practical.
At a gas station or convenience store, testing day is also a selling day, and downtime costs money. We coordinate scheduling with your site, test the tanks and lines your permit covers, and explain the results in plain terms. If something fails, you are notified promptly with the details needed to plan a repair.
Tank and line testing is one part of Florida compliance. Monthly inspections, spill bucket and sump testing, and ATG checks are covered on our Compliance Services page.
It's a pressure test of the underground product piping between your tanks and dispensers. It confirms the lines are holding product and not leaking into the ground.
Precision tank testing checks whether the tank itself is leaking. Secondary containment testing checks whether the outer wall of a double-walled tank or pipe would contain a leak if the inner wall failed.
Florida requires precision tank and line testing to be performed by a licensed tester. Our team holds Registered Precision Tank Tester credentials.
It depends on your tank and piping type, installation date and release detection method. We review your system and set the schedule FDEP requires for your facility.
We document the failure, notify you promptly, and give you the information you need to arrange repairs and a retest.
